Update on Campus Phone System Upgrade

Last April, we informed 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ faculty and staff members that our campus phone system would be upgraded. Today, we announce that our campus phone system is moving to Zoom Phone — a modern phone service that works within the Zoom platform we already use for video meetings and collaboration. 

 

Zoom Phone offers both computer and mobile capabilities for communications. This service can be connected to your computer and/or cell phone and will not require a physical desk phone.

The ITS team will begin onboarding departments to Zoom Phone on August. 1, and the transition period will continue for several months.

 

As your department’s migration nears, you will receive more details about the timeline as well as training opportunities and support resources. For employees who requested a physical phone last May, ITS will replace your current phone with a new Zoom-compatible phone during your department’s migration.

 

To help make the transition as smooth as possible:

 

  • Sign in to your 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ Zoom account.
    • Please log in at colgate.zoom.us using your 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ credentials. This ensures your Zoom account is active and ready for Zoom Phone features to be turned on when your department's migration begins.

 

  • Use full 10-digit dialing for all phone calls during the transition period.
    • To ensure every phone call is routed correctly, you’ll need to dial the full 10-digit phone number (e.g., 315-228-XXXX) for all calls, including those to campus numbers.
    • We recognize this is an inconvenience, but this is a necessary step as we complete the migration to the new system.
    • We will let you know when 4-digit dialing can resume after the transition period concludes.
