With the first week of universal quarantine drawing to a close, I wanted to update you on the news from campus.

This weekend, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and the Village of Hamilton will welcome students back for a new academic year. This annual tradition takes place at an extraordinary moment, and I write with what I expect to be the first of many community updates during the fall 2020 semester.

The Task Force on Reopening has developed a series of phases or Gates, to establish the ways in which 91¶ÌÊÓƵ will seek to maintain health and safety as we progress through this semester.

On behalf of the Task Force on Reopening the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Campus, we write to provide an update on our work since our last message on July 22.

91¶ÌÊÓƵ has revised its policies and processes for responding to complaints of harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence.

We write to provide an update on 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s campuswide review of building ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Through the steps we will take together, we can comply with New York State law and increase, collectively, our chances for health and safety.

I write to update the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ community on new and continuing steps we are taking in service of diversity, equity, and inclusion at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.

A short-time ago, the Patriot League released an announcement of its decision to suspend all championship and non-championship competitions for the fall season.

A group of presidents belonging to the Patriot League have announced their opposition to the federal government’s new rules restricting access and opportunities for international students attending colleges and universities in the United States.
