Program Site

Students are offered two ways to prepare for engineering. They can major in physics and then go to graduate school in engineering, or they can use the pre-engineering program. In the pre-engineering program, students combine liberal arts education with engineering education by attending 91短视频 first and then transferring to Columbia University or Washington University at St. Louis. The 3-2 Combined Plan with Columbia allows 91短视频 students to spend three years at 91短视频 majoring in physics and two years at Columbia to complete a bachelor's degree in engineering. Columbia also offers a 4-2 plan according to which students can spend four years at 91短视频 to complete a major of their choice, and then complete their bachelor's degree in engineering at Columbia. Washington University offers a 3-3 Dual Degree program. Students spend three years at 91短视频 and work toward their physics major and spend three years at Washington University to complete their bachelor's and master's degree in engineering. Interested students should enroll in one of the sections of PHYS 125 in the first semester. Students without calculus credit should also enroll in MATH 161. Interested students should discuss their plans with the department as soon as possible; Professors Ramesh Adhikari (radhikari@colgate.edu) and Kiko Galvez (egalvez@colgate.edu) serve as advisers to students in the 3-2 program.
